Out of the Land of Sleepless Days

Hello friends.

It’s been awhile. My life has changed a lot in the past two months, thanks to one little 13-pound bundle of incredible cuteness, Meg.

Since her arrival, my brain has been processing at half speed due to lack of sleep and my duties serving as a human canteen all day long. Forgive me. I’ve been busy replenishing my fluids and haven’t had time to post.

Meg’s arrival has changed our lives very much, and also has caused me to consider what I should write on this blog. Recently I have discovered a whole new world previously unknown to me—the evil sphere of cuteness known as The Baby Blogs. This is a world filled with pics of adorable babies in Halloween costumes and on play dates. Web pages full of anecdotes, birthday parties, and funny things kids say. I stumbled across this world by accident while one day innocently linking from blog to blog. And suddenly, there it was—a huge list of blogs by people I knew or half-knew from college. All with a baby. Or two babies. Out of curiosity, I kept voyeuristically linking from one to the next, and a growing sense of panic began to envelop me.

The overarching problem I have with these blogs is not that the bloggers feature their children and updates on them. Perfectly acceptable and, I’m sure, fun for family and friends to read. I must object, though, when these blogs are written from the perspective of the baby, such as: “Today I went to the park and played with Madison. We had so much fun! I like eating sand.” Yikes. I acknowledge that babies are certainly the rulers of our homes, tiny dictators screaming piercing commands at ungodly hours of the night, but now it appears they are taking over the blog world as well and turning their parents into social secretaries. I cannot endorse this behavior.

So I am pledged to making this blog contain some adult content. (Not ADULT content. . . you know I mean.) That said, here are some pics of Meg. ☺
