Last night, as the snow fell softly all around, I was entranced. Falling snow is just so beautiful. And as it's falling, everything becomes so quiet, like the snow is blanketing even the sound as it covers the trees and grass and mailboxes and lightposts.
Then I went to leave to go to work this morning. Two inches of snow and ice is breathtaking when draped over branches and along roofs...unfortunately, it also accumulates on cars, too.
Here's how the morning went: George and I both leave the house. My car in the shade. Oops. Locks frozen, doors frozen shut. Pour coffee over trunk lock to get inside and look for the scraper. Weight of snow brings trunk down squarely on the bridge of my nose. Blood. Bruise.
Pause.
Pour warm water over windows and locks. Car now running. Back out of driveway. Something not right. Pull over and look. Front right tire flat.
Soundtrack: Bob Marley, "Three Little Birds (Everything's Gonna Be Alright)"
