I've discovered a massive drawback to freelance editing.
When I was managing projects for my former employer, I would all too often have to work on manuscripts that I thought were ridiculous and should not be published. However, I had a budget and could actually pay unsuspecting freelancers to read the crappy manuscripts so I didn't have to read them. (Insert evil laughter here.)
Guess who the freelancer is now.
