Irony

Last month, the publishing company that I work for had the big, annual, let’s-love-on-the-little-people picnic. At the meeting, they handed out a company t-shirt to all the employees. Wear it with pride, they said. It had the company logo on the front, and on the back was written “I’m a . . .” with a list of all the job titles in the company. I quickly skimmed the list of about a hundred titles—Accountant, Production Manager, Technician, Designer, etc—and couldn’t believe what I found.

They left off the titles of the only people that would even know their titles were left off—the Editors.

Soundtrack: Broadway tune (can't remember which show), “16 Tons”

This is exactly why we should all quit working for The Man and do our own spectacular thing.
